Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall Invites the Moriarty Messengers Choir to Perform

The Moriarty High School Messengers Choir has an opportunity of a lifetime, having recently been invited to participate in a performance of Rene Clausen’s Requim at the DCINY (Distinguished Concerts Singers International New York) Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall. DCINY is a professional production company with experience presenting at venues including Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, making this invitation not just any invitation; it is the Super Bowl of invitations for choirs. An invitation to a Performing Arts center like Lincoln Center takes a lot of hard work, dedication, high quality musical performances, and a high level of musicianship, in order to receive, which these young adults in the Moriarty Messengers Choir clearly have strive d to achieve. These wonderful musicians not only represent a high quality of music and education, but they also become ambassadors for the entire community. Receiving the invitation to the DCINY is truly a sign of accomplishment and a high honor for these young adult singers. To show their appreciation of the invitation and opportunity, each member in the Moriarty High School Messengers Choir is learning and perfecting a series of new music, from Rene Clausen’s Requim, and they are fully committed and looking forward to this exciting challenge

However, New York City is quite the distance from Moriarty New Mexico, and in order for the Moriarty Messengers Choir to be able to accept this opportunity of a lifetime, a minimum of $1,300 for each Messenger is needed for travel and accommodation expenses. As there are quite a few students in the Moriarty Messengers Choir, the total commitment needed for expenses is quite high. The young adults in the Moriarty Messengers Choir have been, and are currently working extremely hard in order to raise funds to pay for this great opportunity. Thus far, the Messengers Choir has been able to raise several thousand dollars needed for expenses, which in itself along with keeping up their grades, is an extraordinary achievement; however the expenses for travel and accommodation to New York City is quite a sum of money. Therefore these young adults could use any support with financial aid to help them get to New York, so that not only will they have an opportunity to become great musicians with a resume of performing at the DCINY Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall, but they will have an opportunity to see the sites that New York City has to offer, attend a Broadway musical, and see firsthand the great history of New York City.

Each and every donation given to the Moriarty Messengers Choir will not only bring the group closer its goal, but can also help to bring a promising future to each young adult in the Messengers Choir, so your support means a great deal to us, our families, and our community. Any business supporting the Moriarty Messengers Choir will receive a publicized “Thank You” and sponsorship recognition for this trip through the local publications and through acknowledgement at all performances that are given throughout the year. If you would like to give financial support in sending these singers to New York, please contact the Director of the Moriarty High School Messengers Choir at penny.voss@mesd.us .

The Moriarty Messengers Choir performance of Rene Clausen’s Requim at Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall is on Sunday, March 18, 2012, with conductor Bradley Ellingboe to lead the performance and serve as the clinician for the residency. The Moriarty Messengers Choir will join other concert performers not only from New Mexico but also from around the Country. With your support, I know it will be a great performance and learning experience for the young adult singers in the Moriarty Messengers Choir. Please know that we are very appreciative that you will be sharing and encouraging a promising future for the young adult singers of the Moriarty Messengers Choir, as well as helping them to attain their goal with your generous support.

First, Lincoln Center, next, Carnegie Hall, after that, the sky, all thanks to your generous support.

Please note that I, Aubrey Love, the author of this article, am not affiliated with Moriarty Schools District or the Moriarty Messengers Choir in any way, I simply wrote this article because I believe these young adult singers have earned this invitation to perform at Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall, and I want to do what I can to encourage their talents and hard work by helping them get to New York so they can perform at Avery Fisher Hall. Who knows, maybe the next venue the young adult singers of the Moriarty Messengers Choir will be invited to perform at will be Carnegie Hall.
